Writing from Zurich, so done with pretty pictures. Added a few more to the album from our last couple of days hiking and riding up Passo Delle Erbe. Thursday was cloudy and cool, but Friday was beautiful so we headed up for a day at the pass. Rick of course not content to hang out at the top. He spent the day riding down one side and back up, joined me for lunch, then set off down and up the other side. Then it was back to our lovely apartment to pack up and get ready to head home. We had a last dinner out in town at a place we had been to for lunch. Very nice people and good food. We had rented our room through Booking.com and I thought it was for the week, no negotiating. Checkout proved otherwise though. She noted that we had not been given the room we had reserved the first night, so that was free, and then she noted we were leaving a day ahead of our week so took another night off. Very reasonable. Would highly recommend it. Good location, just far enough from town to be quiet and close enough to walk down for gelato if you want!
It was hard to leave, but time to get home, so we programmed "Jane" to take us to Zurich Airport. En route we let her detour us around a problem on the autoban, which probably saved us half an hour or so, but the trip still took longer than we expected. We were exhausted from the nearly 6 hour drive and returning the rental car etc.... but a glance at the prices in the hotel restaurants sent us traipsing off in seek of cheaper fair. A dicey pizzeria down the road listed prices not that much less than the hotel so we went back and tried not to think about it. About twice what you would pay for a nice meal in the states. Welcome to Switzerland. Well, tomorrow we eat off airline points. Enjoy the pics and see you soon!
